Kylian Mbappé is keen to leave PSG and join Real Madrid this summer, according to Le Parisien.

Kylian Mbappé will not be extending his contract at PSG until 2025, as he was able to do via an option in his last contract signed in May 2022. And while he reaffirmed this Tuesday, in a statement sent to AFP, that he intended to honor the last year of his contract in Paris, the reality is quite different, according to Le Parisien.

Mbappé wants to replace Benzema

Indeed, the regional daily insists that Karim Benzema's surprise departure for Saudi Arabia has changed everything in the mind of Kylian Mbappé, who now wants to join Real Madrid as soon as possible. Either this summer via a transfer, or in a year's time at the latest, as a free agent.

By confirming in writing on Monday his intention not to extend his contract at PSG until 2025, Mbappé has pushed his management to consider selling him this summer. Yesterday, PSG announced that it is now ready to sell its star player during the 2023 summer mercato if the Bondy hotshot refuses to extend his contract.

For Le Parisien, everything seems to be in place for Mbappé to join Real Madrid this summer, who need a player of his calibre to replace Benzema. " The opportunity is just too good: it combines his eternal desire to play for the biggest club in the world, the most titled in any case, and to arrive there as a rock star without a supporting role to tickle his aura", summarizes Le Parisien.

PSG not keen on selling to Real Madrid?

In recent hours, the Spanish press has been quick to pick up on the Mbappé story, but remains cautious. According to Cadena SER, for example, PSG is ready to sell Mbappé, but not to Real Madrid, with whom relations have been very strained since the summer of 2021. With a year to go before the end of his contract, Mbappé asked his managers to sign for Real, but PSG turned down two offers from Madrid, including one valued at 200 million euros.

According to AS, the letter sent by Mbappé to PSG yesterday has changed Real Madrid's plans, who had originally intended to tackle the issue in a year's time, when the player would be free. With Karim Benzema's departure for Saudi Arabia and Mbappé's decision not to extend his contract beyond 2024, the Spanish club would be ready to try their luck this summer and take advantage of PSG's desire to transfer their star player.
