Villarreal, who finished fifth in La Liga last season and have qualified for the Europa League, have already recruited five players since the start of the summer mercato: Spanish defensive midfielder Ramón Terrats (22, Girona, €2.5m), Spanish holding midfielder Santi Comesaña (26, Rayo Vallecano, available), Spanish attacking midfielder Denis Suarez (29, Celta Vigo, available), Spanish-Moroccan winger Ilias Akhomach (19, Barça B, available) and Ben Brereton Diaz.
The latter replaces Senegalese striker Nicolas Jackson, who was transferred to Chelsea last week for 37 million euros. Boulaye Dia, meanwhile, has been definitively transferred to Salernitana for 12 million euros.
