Mercato: Real Madrid think about Joselu in attack

The 33-year-old Spanish striker Joselu, who had a great season with Espanyol Barcelona, is interested in Real Madrid for the summer.

The elimination of Real Madrid against Manchester City has revived the debate of the number 9 in Madrid. Karim Benzema was in great difficulty against the Citizens and Carlo Ancelotti would like to find him a more reliable understudy than Mariano Diaz, who will finally leave the club free this summer.

If Real Madrid is still dreaming of Kylian Mbappé in attack, this file seems to have little chance of succeeding this summer, as PSG has no intention of selling its crack, under contract until 2024 with an additional year in option. Erling Haaland is the other striker that makes Real Madrid dream, but he too will not change air this summer, which pushes the Spanish club to dig other tracks.

Joselu is Carvajal's brother-in-law

According to Relevo, Real Madrid is thinking about Joselu, a 33-year-old Spanish forward who played for Real's reserve team, Castilla, when he was younger. Joselu, who scored 15 goals in La Liga this season with Espanyol Barcelona, is a strong number nine (1.92m) with a good back and a good head. His good season allowed him to get his first caps with Spain last March and to attract the interest of his former club.

Joselu has the added advantage of knowing some of the players in the Merengue squad, such as Dani Carvajal, with whom he played when he was younger and who is his brother-in-law in private life (their wives are twins). According to Relevo, a relegation of Espanyol, currently 19th in La Liga, would facilitate a departure of the player to Real Madrid. The idea of the Merengue club would be to invest more than 100 million euros on Jude Bellingham this summer and then strengthen the squad at lower cost, especially in the position of center forward.

Note that according to Marca, Carlo Ancelotti had a meeting with Florentino Pérez this morning at Valdebebas and will be the coach of Real Madrid next season.
