Spanish centre-forward Joselu was rumoured to be in Real Madrid's sights last week, but according to Marca, he is to be loaned out to the Merengue club.

Real Madrid are on the verge of recruiting a Spanish international. According to Marca, Espanyol Barcelona striker Joselu (33) is to spend a season on loan at Real Madrid, who will pay his wages in full. Having scored 17 goals for the Catalan club this season, Joselu was unable to avoid the Pericos' relegation to the second division, but has distinguished himself on an individual level, to the point of becoming an international last March, and thus drawing closer to Real Madrid.

Joselu won't be the only 9 to sign for Real Madrid

Joselu is no stranger to the club, having played there as a youngster before moving to Hoffenheim in 2012. According to Marca, Joselu won't be the only number 9 to sign for Real Madrid this summer, as the Merengue club is looking to regenerate its attack following the departures, or almost departures, of Marco Asensio (free), Mariano Diaz (free) and even Eden Hazard (2024).

The Spanish press (Relevo and AS in particular) has also been speculating in recent hours about a possible transfer of Karim Benzema to Saudi Arabia, where a lucrative two-year, €200 million contract awaits him.
