Well-informed on the Manuel Ugarte dossier from the outset, Record reports on Wednesday that PSG are offering the Uruguayan a better salary than Chelsea, as well as more attractive payment terms for Sporting CP.

Who will sign Manuel Ugarte this summer? Although he does not represent the player, Jorge Mendes is acting as a go-between in this dossier, and raising the stakes. This Wednesday, A Bola reveals that Manchester United have also entered the race to sign the Uruguayan midfielder from Sporting CP.

PSG offer Ugarte a further €3m/year...

Record, the daily newspaper with the best information on the case since the beginning of the saga, tells us that Manuel Ugarte received Chelsea's salary offer yesterday. And it was considerably lower than PSG's. The Blues are offering the player €2 million net per year, while Paris is offering €5 million.

In both cases, this is considerably more than the 350,000 euros per annum that Ugarte currently receives. But according to Record, the player, who initially preferred Chelsea because of its Premier League presence, is now hesitating, as the Parisian offer is much more attractive financially.

... and better payment terms at Sporting

Record also reports that PSG is prepared to pay the €60 million release clause in two instalments (i.e. twice €30 million), while Chelsea would like to pay Sporting CP in five instalments (i.e. five times €12 million). The advantage goes to Paris on this point too, even if Chelsea would like to offer a further €5 million in bonuses.

But the final word will normally fall to Manuel Ugarte, who will have to decide between PSG, Chelsea and perhaps Manchester United, who unlike the Blues will be competing in the next Champions League.
