Mercato Bayern: PSG used in the Lucas Hernandez case?

Would PSG be used by Lucas Hernandez's entourage on the sidelines of his negotiations with Bayern Munich for an extension? That's what the Bavarian club seems to believe, according to Sky Sports DE.

The Lucas Hernandez to PSG rumour is not new, but it intensified on Thursday when FootMercato reported advanced discussions between the French world champion and the Parisian club. In the wake of this, German media outlet Sport1 confirmed that the defender had put his Bayern extension on hold, and was attracted by PSG's offer, which was presumably more attractive economically than Bayern's own.

The daily L'Equipe then added another layer, claiming that an agreement in principle had already been reached between Lucas Hernandez and PSG, pending discussions between the two clubs. In Germany, Bild and TZ relayed the position of Bayern Munich, who said they were very surprised by the news and that they still intended to complete the extension of their player's contract.

Bayern want to extend Lucas Hernandez's contract

This Friday, Thomas Tuchel told a press conference that the Marseille native was part of his plans for next season. According to Sky Sports DE journalist Florian Plettenberg, who is close to Bayern, the Bavarian club's position is clear: they want to extend Lucas Hernandez's contract. With regard to reports from France, Bayern believe that this may simply be a game of liar's poker inherent in every negotiation.

Are Lucas Hernandez's entourage using PSG's interest, which seems genuine, to negotiate the best possible contract with Bayern Munich? The German club seems to think so. It remains to be seen how far the two clubs are prepared to go to retain or attract the former Atlético Madrid player.

Under contract until 2024 with Bayern Munich, Lucas Hernandez will probably either be sold this summer or extended. Indeed, it's hard to imagine Bayern Munich keeping him without extending his contract, at the risk of seeing him leave in a year's time, despite the fact that he was recruited for 80 million euros in 2019.
