Toulouse announced its first recruit of the summer mercato on Tuesday in the shape of César Gelabert (22), a former Real Madrid star.

The summer mercato officially opens this Saturday in France, but Toulouse has already made its first recruit official with the signing of Spanish midfielder César Gelabert, who arrives free from Spanish second division club CD Mirandés.

A former top prospect at Fabrica, Real Madrid's youth academy, César Gelabert suffered several serious injuries during his young career, but has managed to bounce back in Spain's D2 to now join a club in France's elite.

"I'm a player who plays a lot of 'toque', combining a lot".

"I'm really happy to be here and to be able to help the team," confided the 2017 U17 European champion. I can't wait to meet my new teammates and start working to win games. I've done a lot of research into the way TéFéCé play, and I saw that the club won the Coupe de France and will be able to play in the Europa League.

César Gelabert went on to introduce himself: "Toulouse is a team that plays soccer, that projects itself, that plays a combined game, which I like a lot. I'm a player who plays a lot of this style of play, combining a lot with my partners and being at the heart of a team that likes to have possession. I know that's the way TéFéCé plays, so that's why I decided to come here. I'm going to give it my all to fit in as well as possible and make myself available to the coach and my team-mates."
