Two days after announcing its separation from Frédéric Antonetti, Strasbourg is on the verge of appointing a French world champion to its bench: Patrick Vieira.

Strasbourg changes dimension. Bought out last week by Chelsea's owners, the Alsatian club thanked Frédéric Antonetti on Tuesday, who had been automatically extended until 2024 after managing to keep the club in Ligue 1.

According to RMC Sport, the lucky man should be Patrick Vieira (47), who has been available since being sacked by Crystal Palace in March.

Since Wednesday evening, the 98 world champion had already been mentioned by L'Equipe as a hot prospect for Strabourg, along with Philippe Montanier, who recently left Toulouse. However, according to the latest information from RMC Sport, Vieira, who coached at Nice from 2018 to 2020, is now the ultra-favorite for the job.
