Official: Youri Tielemans signs for Aston Villa

While waiting for Pau Torres, Aston Villa made official this Saturday the signing of Belgian midfielder Youri Tielemans, free after four years with Leicester City.

Relegated to the English second division, Leicester City this week transferred attacking midfielder <a href=/news/official-tottenham-sign-maddison-for-eur46m>James Maddison to Tottenham for €46 million. Youri Tielemans was at the end of his contract with the Foxes and signed for Aston Villa on Saturday.

The 26-year-old Belgian midfielder, who has also played for Anderlecht and Monaco, will wear the number 8 shirt for the Villans. The length of his contract has not yet been announced. In any case, Tielemans told his new club's official channel that he had been won over by Unai Emery, his future coach.

"When I spoke with the manager, his ambition, his passion and the way he led the team impressed me and decided me to come to Aston Villa," he confided, before adding: "It's a great club. I'm really excited. It's a new challenge for me after four and a half years at Leicester."
