Director of soccer of Barça since the return of Joan Laporta as president, Mateu Alemany decided to leave the Catalan club this summer.

This is the big news of the evening in Spain. In the wake of its precious 1-0 victory over Osasuna in the 33rd day of La Liga, Barça announced the upcoming departure of its director of soccer Mateu Alemany. Former Valencia manager, the latter had arrived at Barça in 2021 in the suitcases of Joan Laporta and was under contract until 2024.

Barça explains in its press release that Mateu Alemany wants to start a new professional adventure and will officially leave his position on June 30, in the middle of the market. However, Mateu Alemany has committed to Barça to take care of the summer mercato until the end, potentially until August 31.

According to Catalan journalist Gerard Romero, Mateu Alemany should then continue his career in the Premier League, where Unai Emery's Aston Villa would have made him a very big offer.
