Official: Barça make big Gündogan bid
Ilkay Gündogan officially signed for Barça on Monday, following his historic hat-trick with Manchester City.
It's a great coup for Barça. To officially launch their summer mercato, the reigning Spanish champions announced on Monday the recruitment of Ilkay Gündogan, free after seven years with Manchester City, with whom he achieved a historic treble this season.
The 32-year-old German international has committed himself to Barcelona until June 2025, with an option for a further year. In its press release, Barcelona pointed out that Gündogan has a release clause of 400 million euros in his contract.
In addition to Barça, Arsenal, PSG and Saudi Arabia were also interested in Gündogan this summer, while Manchester City made an offer to extend his contract.
