On Wednesday evening, Arsenal announced the signing of Chelsea's German striker Kai Havertz (24).

Reigning English runners-up Arsenal have made their first summer signing official, and it's Chelsea's German striker Kai Havertz (24), who had also been rumoured to be in Real Madrid's sights in recent weeks.

Having scored 9 goals for the Blues this season, Kai Havertz has signed a five-year deal with the Gunners, running until 2028, and is valued at €75 million (€70m €5m bonus). The German will wear the number 29 shirt at his new club.

"The aim is to win trophies"

"It's very exciting for me to join this extraordinary club and be part of the Arsenal family. This club has a great history and I hope we can achieve a lot," reacted Havertz on his new club's website.

"The mentality of the Arsenal team is very high and you can feel it. That's one of the reasons why it's been so difficult to play against Arsenal recently. The aim is to win trophies and I'm going to give everything to achieve that, for the fans and everyone at the club. I'm looking forward to meeting all the players and staff when we come back for pre-season," he added.

Following in the footsteps of Kai Havertz, Arsenal are expected to make a swift move for West Ham's English defensive midfielder Declan Rice. According to several corroborating sources, the Gunners have reached an agreement with the Hammers for a transfer estimated at 122 million euros, including bonuses.
