Mercato: Steven Gerrard on his way to Saudi Arabia

Out of a job since being sacked by Aston Villa last October, Steven Gerrard is close to joining the Saudi league.

Steven Gerrard is also set to play in the Saudi Pro League next season. The Liverpool legend is in the process of joining Saudi club Ettifaq FC, with whom he had already negotiated last month without reaching an agreement at the time.

But according to The Athletic, the former Glasgow Rangers and Aston Villa coach has received a new offer from the Saudi club and is now very close to joining them. Ettifaq FC finished 7th in the Saudi league last season and boasts the likes of Franco-Congolese defender Marcel Tisserand and Tunisian attacking midfielder Naïm Sliti.
