Mercato OM: the Payet rumour in Turkey already extinguished

30/06/23 12:51 by Fabien Borne

Correspondent in Marseille for L'Equipe, Mathieu Grégoire has put to rest the rumor of Dimitri Payet being sent to Pendikspor, a club promoted to the Turkish top flight.

Dimitri Payet has played little under Igor Tudor, and the OM directors would not be averse to parting with him this summer. Could Marcelino's recent appointment, which could see his team play in a 4-4-2 flat formation or a 4-2-3-1 formation, revive Payet's career? It remains to be seen.

One thing is certain: Dimitri Payet still has a one-year contract at OM, with a promise of retraining within the club, and does not appear to be looking to leave. This week, however, a Turkish media outlet reported that he was on his way out, and even spoke of an agreement already reached with Pendikspor, a club promoted to the Süper Lig.

"Possibility of him going there, but in the multiverse".

Mathieu Grégoire quickly put an end to this rumour on Twitter: "Possibility of him going there, but in the multiverse", tweeted the Marseille correspondent of the daily L'Equipe. It should be noted that prior to this denial, the Payet rumour about Pendikspor had not been confirmed by any reliable French media or Turkish journalist.
