Mercato OM: the big contract awaiting Kondogbia in Marseille
Close to a move to OM, Geoffrey Kondogbia is set to sign a major contract with the Marseille club.
After making Marcelino's arrival on the bench official on Friday, OM could announce their first recruit of the summer mercato in the next few days in the person of <a href=/news/kondogbia-set-to-sign-for-om-for-eur7m>Geoffrey Kondogbia, on the move from Atlético Madrid with a year left on his contract.
According to several corroborating sources, the 30-year-old midfielder, who is also being courted by OL and West Ham, has reached an agreement with OM, who are close to finding common ground with the Colchoneros for a transfer in the region of 7 million euros.
Kondogbia soon to be OM's highest paid player?
Today's edition of L'Equipe reports that Kondogbia is set to sign a three-year contract with OM, running until 2026, with a further year as an option. In terms of salary, OM would offer him between 500 and 600,000 euros per month (gross), according to the sports daily.
That's the club's biggest salary, or not far off, if we are to believe L'Equipe's salary estimates for OM. As a reminder, here are the Top 5 best-paid Marseille players in 2022-2023 according to the daily's information:
- Jordan Veretout: 550,000 euros gross/month
- Alexis Sánchez: 500,000 euros gross/month
- Éric Bailly: 450,000 euros gross/month
- Ruslan Malinovskyi: 350,000 euros gross/month
- Cengiz Ünder: 330,000 euros gross/month
Confirmation that Pablo Longoria and Javier Ribalta don't hesitate to offer high salaries to experienced players with a good track record, as in the case of Kondogbia, who has played for Sevilla, Valencia, Inter Milan and AS Monaco.
