A Saudi club has moved to convince Alexis Sanchez (34) not to extend his contract at OM, which expires on June 30.

Present at a press conference on Monday to review OM's season and answer journalists' questions, Pablo Longoria confirmed his intention to extend the contract of Alexis Sanchez, scorer of 18 goals in his first season at Marseille. But the Spanish president also confirmed the presence of Saudi Arabia in this dossier. <a href=/news/mercato-om-saudi-arabia-also-want-alexis-sanchez>A presence that had filtered through recently via American media outlet CBS Sports.

Al Fateh offers Sanchez €10m/year

On Tuesday, renowned Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed that Al Fateh, who finished 6th in the latest Saudi league, had just made an official offer to Alexis Sanchez for a one-year contract, with an additional second year as an option. In terms of salary, this is a far cry from the €100 or €200 million offered to Karim Benzema, for example, but Romano is still talking about a handsome offer of €10 million a year for Sanchez.

According to L'Equipe's estimates, Alexis Sanchez earned €6m gross at OM this season. Pablo Longoria reported yesterday that OM had offered him a better salary in recent discussions with his agent, but it's unlikely to match the Saudi offer, which appears to be net plus. It now remains to be seen what Sanchez wants, particularly in sporting terms.
