Mercato OL: Thiago Mendes heads to Qatar
Brazilian midfielder Thiago Mendes (31) is set to leave OL to sign for Al-Rayyan in Qatar.
A new departure is on the cards for OL, whose wage bill and mercato were regulated by the DNCG on Tuesday. According to Fabrizio Romano, Thiago Mendes is set to leave Lyon with two years remaining on his contract, and sign for Qatari club Al-Rayyan. A club previously coached by Laurent Blanc and recently joined by Portuguese coach Leonardo Jardim (ex-Monaco).

According to the Italian journalist, the parties have reached an agreement and the 31-year-old Brazilian defensive midfielder is due to undergo a medical this Wednesday. No transfer fee has yet been announced. Last season, Thiago Mendes made 34 appearances for OL. He joined the club in 2019 from Lille for €22 million.
