Mercato: Leipzig make Abdou Diallo's return to PSG official
On loan to Leipzig with an option to buy last September, Abdou Diallo has not been retained by the German club and is returning to PSG to await a probable new departure.
Having played for Mainz and Dortmund in his youth, Abdou Diallo was hoping to relaunch his career with Leipzig this season in a Bundesliga he knows well. However, the 27-year-old Franco-Senegalese defender suffered from physical problems and hardly played a game (just 15 appearances and 793 minutes played).
Unsurprisingly, RB Leipzig decided not to exercise his purchase option, which was estimated at around 22 million euros. The decision was made official by the German club on Thursday. Abdou Diallo, under contract with PSG until 2024, is therefore back in Paris for the time being, but his future will probably be written elsewhere.
