Courted by Arsenal, PSG and a Saudi club, Ilkay Gündogan is close to leaving Manchester City for Barça.

A starter in Germany's 2-0 friendly defeat by Colombia on Tuesday evening, Ilkay Gündogan will now be able to enjoy a well-deserved vacation after an interminable season in which he scored an historic hat-trick with Manchester City, for whom he was captain.

With his contract due to expire on June 30, Gündogan has been offered an extension by Manchester City, as well as a two-year contract with Barça, plus a third year as an option. Arsenal, PSG and a Saudi club have also expressed an interest in him in recent weeks.

Barça in Germany to close the deal

But on Wednesday, the Spanish press announced that he was very close to Barça. According to Relevo, Gündogan even passed his medical this Wednesday in Germany, where Barcelona director of soccer Mateu Alemany arrived to finalize the details of the deal.

Gündogan is expected to sign a 2 1 contract with Barça in the next few hours, making him the club's second summer signing after Basque central defender Iñigo Martínez, who is also at the end of his contract. Other Spanish sources have denied the medical, but confirm that the player has chosen Barça and is very close to the Catalan club.
