Manchester City or Barça? Gündogan has not yet decided

Scorer of a brace and an assist against Everton on Sunday, Ilkay Gündogan is having a great season with Manchester City. His last? Perhaps, since the 32-year-old German international is at the end of his contract on June 30 and has not yet extended his contract.

Barcelona is very interested in his services and some Catalan media had even talked last week about a deal already closed between the player and Barcelona. This information was denied by The Athletic, which confirms however the strong interest of Barcelona for the Skyblues midfielder. However, the English media says that Gündogan has not made any decision for his future for the moment.

Gündogan tempted by Barça

Asked about the future of his captain this weekend, Pep Guardiola was clear: "Would I like the club to do everything possible to extend Gündogan? Yes. Have I told my managers? Yes, I have discussed many things with the club."

According to Barcelona daily Mundo Deportivo, Manchester City are only offering Gündogan an extra year on his contract, with a lower salary than what he currently receives.

Barca, on the other hand, would offer a lower salary than the English club, but a three-year lease to the player, who would be interested. Given Gündogan's current performance, will the Manchester City management make an economic effort in the next few days to keep their all-purpose midfielder?
